Name: Paula Tursi
Who did you study with? Many but I would say my real teacher was Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen. I learned alignment and such from some wonderful teachers but Bonnie taught me how to feel.
How long have you been teaching? Oh my...20 yrs
What other jobs have you had? Giggle...I was a special education teacher for 11 years. I also studied psychology and got a Master's from Columbia. The teaching and psychology really come in handy when we start to dig into the deeper aspects of Yoga.
Favorite place that you have traveled to? Bet you can guess. Latin America. The people are so beautiful. They are great teachers for me. Ultimately they teach me how to be happy with just myself. The have so little and are such bright lights.
List 3 words your students would use to describe your classes: Not so sure but I hope they would say that I hold a space for their personal exploration.
How does your own practice influence your daily life? It is my daily life.
Favorite asana? These days I mostly like to roll around in an attempt to regain lost connections in my body. It's an explorative practice without a clear destination, but I am always amazed by where I wind up.
Who is a teacher who inspires you? Bonnie of course...
A great yoga class makes you feel... still...
